Who is Grand Square International?
Recently, GSI (Grand Square International) Leaders from Europe, Japan, the US and others formed a plan to get to know each other—and others we will meet in the future, much better. We started with a brief outline, hoping to tell you more about ourselves. We call the document “Who is GSI?”. With no small effort, we have exchanged the document with GSI Leaders in many countries, some of whom have personally translated this into an “official” version in their own native language.
In addition, the technology wizards at Google seemed to be thinking exactly what we were thinking, and we now have added the amazing Google Translate button/function to many pages on this site. It is free to use, and easy as well. If our site is displayed in a language other than your own, simply click the button, select your preferred language from the drop down menu and—now, we are speaking your language!
As we travel around the world, meet new friends, shake hands, dance and connect our organization with yours we begin to broaden the horizons of square dancing as a whole. Sometimes our time together is brief and our languages spoken diverse, leaving much to be discovered about each other. Recent updates to this website, and social media are promising.

| Say Hello to GSI! - Thursday, August 25, 2011 |
| Half a World Away in Tokyo: A Great Honor Among Our Friends - Thursday, August 25, 2011August 2011 couldn’t come soon enough for your friends at Grand Square. We have all become connected to our square dancing friends who are celebrating a true milestone: The 50th Annual National Square Dance Convention of the JSDA (Japan Square Dance Association.)
A series of visits by GSI to Tokyo for many successful events, the founding of GSI Japan, and close interaction between our US folks and the GSI Japan Leaders are perhaps a model of how our dance can—and should—bring folks together and perpetuate itself across all conceivable distances and boundaries. We treasure this intercontinental relationship.
This trip to Japan will be an exceptional one. The venerable JSDA has invited GSI to become a member of its organization, and this will transpire as we attend the 50th Annual JSDA convention.
Both the English and Japanese version of events can be viewed by clicking the link above.

| A Decade and More of GSI History! - Thursday, August 25, 2011We mention elsewhere on this website how proud we were when the Square Dance Foundation of New England asked us to contribute a volume describing our history and efforts to its archives. We'll be posting up a digital version of this historic document in the near future. For now, we’ve just gathered our efforts from 2010-2011 in an annual addendum. This one we call Connecting Our Numbers: One World, One Dance. It is our Annual Archive, and we hope you will have a look at the digital edition of this volume by clicking the very colorful edition below. Enjoy!
My experiences have a more remarkable aspect, so reviewed, than they had when they were in progress. I have come home from the Play now, and can recall the scenes of the Drama upon which the curtain has fallen, free from the glare, bewilderment, and bustle of the Theatre. —Charles Dickens
